A START...

There were a few reasons I wanted to get this blog up & running...

  (A) Setting An Intention- I developed a habit of writing down goal lists a few times a year after my dad passed away. I was in so much pain, the best way to deal with my feelings was to put pen to paper and write down everything I wanted to change, do differently, and improve on so I could feel better, 1 "to do" at a time. The first list I remember writing contained only 1 "to do" that I clumsily cut & pasted to the front of my work notebook, which said: Be Happy. I was afraid people at work would think I was crazy so I had my sister Eva type and translate into Chinese characters. It avoided any raised eyebrows from co-workers. Since then, I've created lists upon lists of habits I wanted to break, feedback I wanted to keep in mind from loved ones, and to do's. There's something powerful about taking the time to ask for what you want and set an intention behind it.

(B) Linda vs. Cancer- One of my good friends went through one of the toughest years of her life when she found out she was diagnosed with cancer. Through her treatments, surgery, and doctor visits, she started a blog and traveled to 12 different places in 12 months to tackle her year of remission. Despite everything she's been through, she still has time to listen to my breakdowns and always ready to call me out or support me through everything life has to offer. She always reminds me I can do better and reach higher. Here's a start.

(C) Start Doing- I'm a dreamer. I like to live, see, do things 10,000 feet up in the sky. While it has its perks and strengths at times, sometimes I take too much time being up in the clouds and not spending as much time doing and living. The person who grounds me and reminds me to start doing is my wonderful husband, Joel. This is the start of my doing.

(D) Dirty Thirty -So I created the list below for my 30 things I want to do when I turn 30. Hopefully these blog entries will capture each of these escapades and stories. Unlike most people, I can't wait for my 30th birthday. One of my good friends Stacie, my running buddy, use to remind me that you are one hot mess in your 20's and not until you've reached your 30's do you start to feel comfortable living in your own skin. She was totally right. There's no better way to kick off the next decade than a "to do" list. I'm taking names for partners in crime, keep me posted!
